Renovations: Phase Three

The Children’s Room was closed on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, so workers can begin clearing the space and begin the process of a facelift.

A large representation of children’s materials is available in the main room's studio space until the Children's Room reopens.

It will be a brighter, more inviting Children’s Room. There will be improved lighting, with a new ceiling and carpeting. Once the room is finished and reopened, new furnishings will slowly be phased in.

The core collections will remain intact, and there will be face-out shelving for picture books.

The refreshed space will incorporate the tenets of Talking Is Teaching, the nationwide principals of learning endorsed by Early Childhood Alliance of Onondaga County and practiced by children’s librarians in LPL programs.

The Children’s Room is expected to be finished by the end of 2019, wrapping up the LPL’s renovation process.
