Welcome to the Transformed Main Room

“Welcome back to the Liverpool library! Thank you very much for your patience as we worked to make our space better to serve you, our patrons. Our vision was to create a brighter, user-friendly space while keeping the integrity of the collection intact. You will find more seating, lower, accessible shelving and a much brighter, cohesive space. Please let me know what you think! Stop by my office during your visit or drop me an email.

I hope you enjoy YOUR library!”

Glenna Wisniewski, LPL Director

Things sure look different as we open the doors to the main room.

You might not recognize us since workers pulled the first load of books from the old shelves in May.

But we think you’ll feel right at home. The design was shaped after careful consideration of the library’s strategic plan to best serve the community, answers we received to public surveys and ideas conceived in focus groups of staff members who work with patrons on a daily basis.

“I feel this renovation has been very participatory, very collaborative,” says Susan Reckhow, the LPL’s assistant director, who played an important part in every phase of the process.

Walk through the comfortable and colorful lobby. That was Phase One of our transformation process, finished at the end of June.

EnterCome through the doors into the renovated main room to appreciate Phase Two.

The new one-stop help desk, Information @ LPL,  is now located to your right, with librarians to meet your reference needs stationed next to clerks who can answer library questions and check out materials.

The Business Center up front pairs public computers and copiers and scanners with an improved work flow.

The quiet area is located in the back of the room. In addition to table seating, It features three meeting rooms that can be reserved at DIBS. Two of them fit two people; the third fits three. A bigger technology learning space can be reserved in the same manner as the Carman Community Room and Sargent Meeting Room. Collaborative @ LPL fits as many as eight people for a meeting.

More features will be added as they arrive.  Enjoy.
