There are many great programs and services coming for Liverpool Public Library patrons in May and June.

They'll be easy to find in the new program guide that covers these two months.

That's the subject of the latest weekly community library column for Eagle News Online/Star Review.

Yes, Star Wars Day will take over the Liverpool Public Library on Saturday, May 7, this year, with two events scheduled that are bound to make fans of the iconic movie franchise happy.
 
An all-day program will feature activities spread throughout the library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and library patrons of all ages are encouraged to drop in wearing their favorite Star Wars costumes for arts and crafts, games, hunts and more. At 1:30 p.m. in the Carman Community Room, the LPL will screen the movie Star Wars (A New Hope), the 1977 release that was the first on the Star Wars trilogy. Those are two of the early-May programs that readers can check out in the new May-June Program Guide, which covers events and services available through those two months at the LPL.

There are new programs. The Reading Brain: The Science and How to Help Your Child at 6:30 p.m. May 2 and 1:30 p.m. May 24 features Reading League director Kelli Johnson addressing science and offering suggestions for parents and caregivers. Climbing the Adirondack High Peaks at 7 p.m. Monday, May 2 showcases Jason Gouger revealing how he faced the challenges of conquering mountain trails. Cozy Board Game Tea Party at 1 p.m. May 28 features two hours to hang out with rules-light party games.
 
New events include the Pop-Up appearances of the LPL2Go Mobile Tech Van, which will be stocked with equipment and devices that will cater to techies and non-techies alike, for gaming, coding, printing, scanning and more.
 
Old favorites returning include the Syracuse Rose Society Rose Fair at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 15, in the Carman Community Room, with members showing off their prized plants as well as answering questions to help visitors nurture their best growing efforts, and Let’s Read, Liverpool! with two summer reading kickoff parties for adults, teen and childen’s club participants, at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25 and Monday, June 27, in the Dinosaur Garden.
