You'll Find Us Out and About in the Community for Let's Read, Liverpool!

Summer's here, and our Community Engagement coordinator Maggie Foster is quite excited about how far her staff can reach throughout Liverpool with the LPL 2 Go Van and Book Bike Cart.

It's all part of the big Summer Reading Celebration 2021.

I wrote a column for the weekly Eagle News community newspaper explaining the particulars, and they graciously published it in newsprint for their June 16 edition.

My Awesome SummerJPGOur LPL 2 Go Book Bike Cart can be found from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays near the Wegmans Playground for the weekly Picnics At the Park event in Onondaga Lake Park.

If you missed it, here's the column:

Have you met one of the staff members from Community Engagement @ LPL yet?

If not, Liverpool Public Library Community Engagement department coordinator Maggie Foster is certain the summer months could be your time to get in touch with her or one of the devoted representatives that will be bringing the LPL 2 Go Community Engagement van and/or Book Bike Cart to many spots in the community. Their goal is to extend access to the library's materials, physical and digital.

“Community Engagement @ LPL is so excited for Summer 2021! From town and county parks to local businesses, we're looking forward to hanging out with our community of readers,” Foster said.

“Visit our LPL 2 Go Pop Ups and take the pledge to get a free spin on our trivia wheel for the chance to win prizes. We've got books to give away, stickers, and more. No library card required, but if you need one, our staff can sign you up on-site!”

Community Engagement will Pop Up at five Pledge in the Park events in July as part of the big Let’s Read, Liverpool! community celebration. Look for the recognizable LPL logo on the van or bike cart at Good Dog Park in Onondaga Lake from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 6; Sunflower Park at 217 Sunflower Drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 12; near Wegmans Playground in Onondaga Lake Park from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13; Wemesfelder Town Park at 6883 Larkin St. from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. om Monday, July 19; and Willow Bay in Onondaga Lake Park from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 20.

You’ll find certificates to sign for Let’s Read, Liverpool! and plenty more.

The Community Engagement staff members are ready to mix with patrons at the library, too.

“Throughout July and August, we are all in for our readers, so even if you can't make it to one of our Pop Ups, we are also hosting Just Read Garden Parties in our Dinosaur Garden for the leisure readers,” Foster said. “As always, Community Engagement @ LPL wants to discover new places, learn new things and grow with our readers. Let's Read, Liverpool!”
