Unearth a Story: Summer Reading 2026

Summer Reading for Children

Beginning at our Summer Reading Kick-Off on June 27, track your reading. Grab a reading log from the Children’s Desk and for every 30 minutes you read, cross off either a dino egg or a fossil. Once you have four (4) crossed off in a week, you’ve earned a trading card! Stop by the Children’s Desk to show off your checked off log and pick up that week’s special trading card and a prize book.

Summer Reading for Tweens and Teens

Calling all teens and tweens: this summer, earn special edition library pins by reading. For every 30 minutes you read, earn experience points (XP). Level up (XP x 4) in a week, and you’ve earned a pin. Stop by the Information Desk to show your completed log and pick up your limited edition pin. Complete challenges to unlock “rare” pins. And, when you turn in your completed log at the end of the summer, you’ll be entered to win raffles.

Summer Reading for Adults

Dig in to Adult Summer Reading 2026! All summer long, you can read and log books while completing missions to earn raffle tickets for fabulous prizes. Attend events to earn special edition magnets and stop in the library each week to pick a free book to keep. Unearth your story by creating a ReadSquared account online here or pick up an Adult Summer Reading booklet at the Information Desk.

All paper logs and online book/mission logging needs to be turned in by 4 p.m. on August 25.

Kick-Off: A Yabba Dabba Doo Good Time
Wednesday • July 1 • 7 p.m. • Carman
You're invited to Unearth a Story at the library. Dig deep into the past with a Stone Age celebration! Join us for a Flintstones-themed party where the prehistoric meets the page. Featuring a classic "rock" band, “Wound Up,” there will be dancing, activities, and snacks! Guests are welcome to come in costume (please leave clubs at home).

Macrame Bookmark*
Wednesday • July 15 • 6:30 p.m. • Carman
Join macrame artist Tatianna Monet for this workshop designed to unearth your creativity! Tatianna will lead participants in creating macrame bookmarks - perfect for slipping inside books as we continue with our Adult Summer Reading program.

Silent Book Club with Golden Bee Bookshop*
Wednesday • July 22 • 6:30 p.m.
We are happy to collaborate with The Golden Bee Bookstore to bring Adult Summer Readers this unique and fun experience. Silent Book Club is a global community of readers with 2,000 chapters in 60+ countries. There's no assigned reading — it's BYOB-- Bring Your Own Book.

6:30 - 7 p.m.: Mix, Mingle, and Share (with refreshments)
7 - 8 p.m.: Silent Reading

Choose your own story to unearth by bringing your own book to the Liverpool Lit Lounge for a relaxed reading experience.

Unearth a Story: Archaeology Dig at Cerne Abbey
Thursday • Aug. 27 • 7 - 8 p.m. • Carman
Dig into history with archeologist Drew Calderwood. He'll present his exciting three-year experience on an archaeological dig in southern England. Drew has been working to locate and understand the history behind Cerne Abbey, which was built in 987 AD and taken down during Henry VIII’s reign in 1539. Calderwood will be at the dig site throughout the summer and will share the newest findings!

This program will also be the Adult Summer Reading Finale. Raffle prizes will be announced at the program. Refreshments available.
