1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to read aloud to their children daily. Share the fun of reading aloud with your young children and help them acquire skills they’ll use when they start kindergarten. Children birth to age 5 are eligible with a parent or guardian. 

The LPL 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Club rewards children for reaching milestones on the way to the big number.

Bring the log to the reference desk in the Children's Room at every 100-book increment for your child to claim a prize!

How to Join and Log Your Books

• Register yourself and your child at the reference desk in the Children's Room.
• You'll receive a folder containing a log and resources for the program.  
• Start reading!
• Show your log to the reference desk in the Children's Room at every 100-book increment for your child to claim a prize!
