Volunteer Opportunities

Liverpool Public Library values volunteers and recognizes their role in helping the library meet its mission: to connect our community, engage people and inspire discovery, learning and growth.

Volunteers will be placed according to their talents, abilities, and knowledge in relationship to the tasks and needs of the Library (see job descriptions below). If you are interested in volunteering, please download the Volunteer Application, fill it out and return it to our volunteer coordinator. Not all applicants will be accepted. 

Volunteers are:

      • Individuals seeking to build a lasting connection with LPL and the community.
      • Able to independently follow written and verbal instructions.
      • Reliable and committed.
      • Pleased to work in a team environment under the supervision of library staff.
      • Prepared to volunteer in Liverpool, New York, USA
      • Age: 18 and over. (Are you a teen ages 13-17 and interested in volunteering? Check out our Teen Volunteer Opportunities.)

REQUIREMENTS: If you see yourself as described above, please submit a Volunteer Application. If selected, you will be contacted for an interview. Not all applicants will be accommodated. 

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Note: All volunteers need to be able to potentially stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds.

Book Sorter and Book Sale Help
Sort donated books/help prepare for and work the book sale. (Requires lifting and the ability to distinguish between fiction and non-fiction & children’s and adult reading material. Must be able to alphabetize.)

Community Engager
Assist library staff at community events in the Liverpool, Salina, and Clay area. (Requires own transportation.)

Garden Beautifier
Help maintain and weed the library gardens. (Requires ability to bend, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time.)

Program Assistant
Assist library staff with various events and workshops. (Requires ability to interact with various age groups.)
